"I got 10 hours back. That time is now for building new projects for the business, investing in myself, or playing a round of golf…time I could never justify when I was buried in work."
Vince Alfaro, Head of Ecommerce, Bogey Bros
Introduction

Vince Alfaro is Head of Ecommerce at Bogey Bros a Spring, Texas-based golf apparel and accessories brand known for its humorous, and sometimes controversial designs. The team is small and mighty and like most lean e-commerce teams Vince wears many hats that includes warehouse logistics, data cleanup, and also front-end campaign execution, site QA, sales promotions, and managing collection pages. If something is happening on the site, Vince was either doing it or watching it closely.
Challenge

Building sale pages is a necessary but tedious task when running a store of thousands of SKU’s but it’s a job Vince had done enough times to know how it would go and about how long it would take to complete. He could repeat the questions he’d ask himself each time in his sleep: which products did we put on sale last time? Which ones did we already burn though and don’t have enough stock? How many variants do we have of this t-shirt? He’d pull variant level inventory manually, scribble down names on a piece of paper, and mentally build a picture of what the sale would look like.
The process continued with fuzzy math and guessing the right discount strategy: 10%, 15%, 20%? It really depended on whatever felt right at the moment, not really taking historical performance into account but more about his own feelings about how customers would respond to the discounts. Next, he'd bulk edit prices and manually adjust the position of each product in Shopify to determine how you want to sort products by color, product type, availability, etc. After that he walked over to his CEO and head of marketing for discussion and approval, a full day was gone and the sale hadn’t even launched yet.
The
Solution

With Akikumo the process that once consumed a full day of tedious research and work, now takes twenty minutes.
At a glance, Vince could see exactly what products needed help, he had access to variant level inventory, historical category performance, what was selling and what wasn’t without having to export a Shopify report or build a pivot table. He set his collection strategy in a few clicks: burn through inventory highest to lowest, automatically surface better performing SKUs as products sold out, and push near depleted items down the page rather than letting them take up valuable real estate.
When the collection was done, he shared the collection with his CEO and head of marketing via Slack, they approved it, the sale went live and everyone moved on with their day. Vince felt the relief of not having to go through painful steps of a manual collection build and the confidence that the collection was set up correctly and optimized for best conversion. For a lean ecommerce team like Bogey Bros, twenty minutes isn't just saving time, it's a more intelligent collection creation that drives higher conversion and gives Vince back the hours to focus on everything else the brand needs.
